My very first case in this firm was a hearing for assessment of damages. It lasted FOREVER. The trial lasted 4 days. And finally ended yesterday.
At this two year journey of this ONE freaking case, I've become friends with my opponent. Heard her stories and exploits. And as I walked to my car the freaking finality of the whole thing weigh heavy on my heart.
I've stayed for two years and now I'm moving on. How small that two years seemed and what a time it was. I was happy and content. And the finality of the two years crashed on me like a blazing truck when I finished the case. The case is done. And so have I.
It truly is hard to say goodbye to yesterday..

The Diva
This would be my first ever attempt at story telling. The story is not original. It was from a rumor of the supernatural. I just put it into words of how it would have gone down.
Damian was
sitting on the couch of the studio restless. He checks his phone again but
there were no new messages. He looks at the time that showed that he had been
waiting for 5 hours now.
“I should go.”
He said out loud to the empty studio. The sound guy left at midnight and the
producer shortly after. At least he was allowed to stay and wait for ‘The
Diva’.
His Diva he
should say. His employment as The Diva’s personal slave extended to 2 years now
which is the longest anyone ever stayed. The contract he signed out of
desperation chained him to the job. He took comfort in the knowledge that at
least he is technically the employee of Sonic Records thus entitling him access
to all the biggest stars.
And no one is
bigger than The Diva. Who is late. Again.
The Diva was
scheduled to record the soundtrack for a new horror film. This was her first
job after a hiatus of 6 months.
As per usual she
would glide in 2 hours late, ignores everyone, sings and leave. One take was
all she would give and no more. No more was ever needed.
Damian shut his
eyes and was soon fast asleep.
The sudden cold
jerked him awake. His heart was pounding and the fog from the sleep leaves him
disoriented. He heard music and focused his eyes.
The Diva.
She was at the
microphone singing the eerie song and cold sweat trickled down Damian’s neck.
“How could
anyone even write the song?” he wondered as The Diva work. She was a sight to
watch.
I
wait for my beloved
I
watched him sleep from the tree
Your
death is a sweet surrender
I
wait for my beloved in immortality
Damian went and
fetched his bag of supplies. The Diva requires a bottle of Veen imported from
Finland after each session and one single egg. Damian never knew the purpose of
the single egg and didn’t care enough to wonder.
When he came in
he was startled to see The Diva already out facing him. He stammered an apology
and handed out the bottle and egg. She caught his hand and her long fingers
caress his arm.
Seconds later
The Diva walked out leaving Damian speechless. He looked at his arm and saw one
long red mark. It didn't hurt.
Damian
considered the time and opted to stay in the studio. Dawn was breaking soon
anyway.
Part 2
Two weeks had
passed from the recording session and The Diva did not contact Damian at all
which suited him fine. He was now primarily attached to a new talent Sonic
Records wanted to ‘launch’.
He heated up
cold pizza and sat in front of the TV to watch the news. The Chief of Police
was holding press conference. He turned up the volume and settled down.
“We made a positive identification of a body found in an abandoned
house near Central 9 days ago. We believed that the victim was murdered before
being set on fire to remove any evidence. It is with great regret that we
announce that the victim is the singer popularly known as Maya or “The Diva”.
The victim was murdered at an unknown location approximately one to two months
ago and moved to the abandoned house soon after. We are still processing
evidence and will let you know more soon. That is all”
Damian stared at
the long red mark on his arm that wouldn’t fade away. Was it redder today?
