Yes.. we all heard about it. I came across few comments about it online. Some agree and some don’t. of course. The person in charge in my neighborhood came few times mentioning they will be talk about it and signed petition and all. And I hope the latest news I get is right that is they houses in ttdi will be spared.
As a younger generation I understand the need of development. Afterall the public has been complaining about the public transport services since… forever?? I see this as a good way of the government trying to improve the services. However, I do believe that it should be proportionate. They agency responsible for this MRT only provide us with a rough sketch on the route. According to the plan if I can understand it properly, the MRT will be RIGHT in front of my house.
I seriously don’t know where they are going to fit it in. We already have “china wall” few meters from our door. And down there is already a three lane highway! (which is now under construction for underground tunnel and flyover).
Saying that the TTDI residents are being selfish for not agreeing to the MRT is not fair. We certainly do make way for developments such as the highway and few condominiums being erected where we used to have our ‘pasar malam’. Soon, another condo is almost complete and that is where our ‘pasar malam’ is situated now after being relocated as the previous area also has another condo.
And I am personally hurt by comments by certain people that stated the ttdi residents are all well-off and they have few other properties elsewhere and therefore moving out is not a problem. EXCUSE ME! You are certainly not a resident of this area as if you are one; you would know that these houses that they are trying to acquire are all OLD HOUSES! Most of us are all old people who have been staying here since ttdi was first developed and we cannot afford to simply move out just like that. Granted maybe some of them have few other properties, but what if this is where they WANT to live?? I’m sure if they want to move out, they’ve do so when the ‘china wall’ was fixed in front of their houses.
And moving out is not that simple with all the cleaning and transporting things elsewhere! I do feel sorry for some who bragged staying here and rejected the mrt by them being ‘superior’ and don’t want the public to have access to their area. Certainly Sir, maybe you should stay some other places that recognized your wealth and superiority. I am ashamed of such a remark. I like staying in ttdi because of this area where you have easy access to a lot of things. Not because of the ‘greatness’ of this so called TTDI. This house was bought by my grandfather and that was like 20 or 30 years ago where certainly there’s nothing here yet and the price are low.
Therefore, people…. Do understand the situation and don’t simply say things that you don’t know. What if they decided to re-route the mrt and your house is affected and will be taken. What do you have to say??!! I am giving this opinion personally and without any emotions involved. I’m sure I’ll be all cursing if I choose to say this blindly without thinking. We are all living together and we cannot afford to be selfish. Maybe there’s just too much development here and maybe there’ll be too much pollution for us at the end of the day. We will be the ones who suffer and not those who happily taking a ride in the mrt……… MAYBE……..
